J. Matthew Guilfoil

Dedicated Kansas City DWI Attorney

In the past 15 years, Kansas City DWI defense lawyer J. Matthew Guilfoil has studied and honed the art of drunk driving litigation. After obtaining his B.A. from DePaul University, Matt went on to earn his J.D. from the University of Missouri at Kansas City. Shortly after that he began an exhaustive study of Missouri’s DWI polices.

DWI Defense Training & Certifications

Matt has completed the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP)/National-Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) approved course on the administration of standardized field sobriety tests. He is one of the few Missouri defense attorneys to hold this certification. He is also one of only 2 defense attorneys in Missouri to have completed the 24-hour drug evaluation and classification course.

Matt’s professional memberships include:

  • 2006-2007 Missouri State Delegate of the National College of DUI Defense
  • American Association of DUI Trial Lawyers
  • Missouri Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers
  • National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers

Matt’s sobriety test certifications are the same as most law enforcement officials in Missouri. This includes certified operation of the Intoxilyzer 5000 and the Datamaster breath testing machines. His knowledge of the field has been such an aid to his clients that in 2006-2007 he was the Missouri State Delegate to the National College for DUI Defense, and is a regular attendant of the distinguished organization’s Summer Sessions.
